Lights, Camera, Action! These are sounds that go into an ONW NOW. You may not know this but this year ONW NOW has three shows a week this year.  The shows are on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

After spring break ONW transitioned it’s self forward to three shows a week.

ONW S.I.D student Luis Ruiz says “ It’s a good transition it puts us under a lot more pressure. I thinks it keeps us more busy and its great that we get to interact a lot more with each other.”

Until spring break ONW had one show a week witch aired on Wednesday. With three shows a week the Wednesday show is the biggest show witch airs the longest compared to the shows on Monday and Friday.

“ On our part it was to make us better in front of the camera to entertain more people” Ruiz says.

The students have many things to do to prepare for a show.

“Whenever you watch the show and you see that you have something up there it makes you proud that you did work to help out the show”. Ruiz says.

Although there are many positives about the three shows a week the students also face many challenges with the show.

“ Make sure you have packages constantly. The packages come on through and they have to be done by a deadline and they’re not like the same packages each week” Ruiz says.

For the last 11 years ONW NOW has had a different studio compared to the new state of the arc studio they have now.

“ Last year we had a whole set up and it wasn’t virtual, but this year we have a green screen and it’s really cool because people who haven’t seen the studio think we actually have all that stuff in the room” Ruiz says.

With the new studio there is also a lot of new equipment that goes along behind the scenes for the shows.

“ The tri-caster controls everything so the show flows well and the green screen which can make a back ground of anything you want” Ruiz says.

The shows are hard to film and the students put in a lot of work to film the actual show.

“ We have one person on tri-caster, one on the teleprompter and then we have the floor director who counts down to tell when the two anchors when to speak: Ruiz says.

All this work has made the students proud of the hard work that they have put into the shows this year.
